Symptoms

Chronic cough that is hollow sounding, breathlessness, and sounds from lungs

Cause

Usually occurs seconday to a viral infection or other pulmonary disease. Bacteria in the trachea contribute towards the pathogenicity.

Treatment

Good quality dust free forage and bedding needs to be used and the environment needs to be as clean as possible. Antibiotics can be given over a long period of time as well as mucolytic and expectorants which help clear the airways and ease coughing.
