Pinworm
Symptoms
Irritation around perineum, skin damage and hair loss around base of tail.
Cause
A threadworm which lays eggs around the anal region. The adult lives in the large intestine and the female migrates to lay eggs around the anus. Animals can be re-infected by drinking or eating contaminated food or water.
Treatment
As for other parasites, and effective worming plan, anthelmintic drugs and correct pasture management can be used.
