Seedy Toe
Symptoms
A gap develops at the bottom of the hoof which is filled with crumbly material. The horse will usually show severe lameness.
Cause
Usually by damage from chronic laminitis or by damage to the sole at the toe.
Treatment
The front of the hoof will need to be cut away, including all of the diseased area so the hole is exposed. This can then be treated by formalin or iodoform mixed with eucalyptus oil.
